Tech Play 4

Tech Play 4

I am a librarian with Fort Worth ISD.  Therefore, I chose apps to enhance reading skills.  Throughout the district student continually score low in the objective of  inferencing.

Making Inferences from www.brainpop.com

Writers often do not state the way a character feels explicitly. Instead, writers will include details about how a character acts and readers must use these details to make inferences about the character’s emotions. When you infer, you use observations, prior knowledge and experiences, and details from the text to make connections and come up with ideas.

I found some interesting good inferring apps for students to use.  They include:

If … Then … Fun Deck: Students select the cards that the teacher has chosen.  The students complete the statements to enhance critical thinking and inferencing.

Robot Rescue:  In this app players race to rescue Mega Robot.  The rescue him, they must answer questions correctly about Making Inferences.

I like both apps.

Content:  The content of these apps are reading comprehension.

Pedagogy:  For these apps, I’ll use Gagne’s nine events of instructions.  Then I’ll allow kids to interact with the inferencing apps.

Technology:  The technology for will enhance reading comprehension skills.
